Nikon Monarch 10x42 or Pentax 10x42 DCF HRc

Hello from Germany,

I am a newbie in birding and looking for binoptic. Even after a market-research it is difficult for me to make a decision or it become harder after the research. Are there big differents in the quality of the optic or in practical use. Is there somebody who has experience with these binoculars. It seems that the Nikon has got a very good reputation in the Uk.
On the other hand I saw review in a polish magazine that is a little bit different.

Thanks for help

Hello!
Well, these middle class, mid-price roof prism models are a mixed lot.
I have not seen the HRc but the Monarchs had a dull image so I ruled them out.
If you start to compare, you'll eventually be lured into the top class.
The HRc is certainly the more modern instrument. Maybe there are technical improvements over the Monarch.
For the price you may find something better. Have you considered a Porro type glass?

Others will tell you more specific things about the models.
Cheers,
Tom

Yes, Nikon does have a good reputation for producing a good range of binoculars. A particular good pair that i will mention is the Nikon Monarch range. They are a good all-round pair of binoculars.
