Lost and Found

Some time ago, a contributor on this forum stated a concern, namely, what would happen if he set his bins down then left his position, forgetting to pick up his bins.

This got me to thinking, about a way to put ID on the bins. I don't like attachments or appendages, as they seem to get in the way when using the glasses.

Here is what I came up with. I took one of my return mailing labels, added my phone # and stuck it to the wide section of my bincocular strap. I then covered the whole thing with packing tape, which is transparent and reasonobly water proof. I don't know what king of "life" I'll get out of it, but it is easily redoable.

On another matter, I 've also given up on rain covers for the ocular/ objective lenses. What I did, was go to my favorite super market and get some dish bowl covers. I chose the appropriate size that would cover both the occular and the objective lenses. If they have to be plucked off in a hurry and lost, no big deal, they are easily replaceable. Frankly, what I have found, is that if its raining that hard, that I can't use the bins anyway, so I just tuck them in my coat.

I don't understand what you mean by "dish bowl covers." Any chance you can describe them better, or perhaps post a picture or two?

What to do with the left over turkey from Thanksgiving? Place in bowl and cover with a dish bowl cover. These covers can be found in the supermarket and come in various sizes and are elastic. Basically, they are miniture shower caps (which will also work but are a bit overkill.)
