Well I think I might upgrade soon. I am going on a trip which will have some once in a lifetime bird viewing opps and Im thinking I might need some new bins.
What do you think? I currently have the Eagle Optics 10x42 Ranger Platinum Class binoculars. I was going to hopefully sell these and upgrade to something better. What would you suggest. I am hoping to get at least $300 from the sell of these bins, since they were extremely gently used and then I will have $200-300 to put towards an upgrade so a total of $600.
Thanks in advance!
Pentax and Minox and Vortex have some fancier 10x models. I somehow have not come to trust Vortex completely and would not go out of town with a brand new pair. People have had to return a few pairs.
I think the ones you have are actually pretty good. You are at 90%, you can only get a little more. Try to get 315ft fov.
Other than 10x, there are a lot of 8x that have fine quality, but you will not ID any more birds with them if you are used to 10x.
You did not say where you were going. If binoculars are not easily available there, I would take some cheaper and lighter back up binocular with me, some 8x Bushnell or other for 100 dollars or so. Maybe even an 8x25 reverse porro. Or get something like Nikon LX/Premier 10x25 which can be your back up.

Thanks for the advice. Do you happen to know what the reason is that is causing people to have to return the vortex bins?
I saw minox had a 10x42 that offered Aspherical glass, waterproofing, 321ft fov, for $600 on eagle optics.
I will be using these for a cruise through mexico and the carribean where each shore excursion will be a full day of birding. Some of the places are Sian Kaan Muyil Ruins, Princess Cay (Bahamas), Jamaica, Grand Cayman.
