Hi,
I apologize in advance because I can see the forum is littered with requests for suggestions but I have approximately £800 to spend on some good bins. I would really appreciate any recommendations to have a look at.
Don't particularly want compacts, average weight but after good image quality with decent results in low light. -edit 8X mag probably...
Any help appreciated.

mcc, You'll probably get loads better advice than this but...you dont specify whether you want 8 or 10x or objective, but if you're looking at low light performance with average weight I'd suggest an 8x42. with £800 to spend you've a few to choose from - Nikon 8x42 HGL, Swarovski SLC, or Leica Trinovids (cost you an extra £30 from a well known retailer). All are good, but for me it would be the Leica 'cause they just feel better. Have looked through the others and both are good bins which would probably serve you equally as well. Comes back to the old chestnut again about which YOU prefer when you try them out which is something you must do. I'm sure somebody will be along with a much better/technical reply.

That old chestnut, however often it's repeated, is still the key to the decision - you could buy the most technically excellent binoculars in the world, but if they didn't feel right when you used them, they'd be a disappointment.
I don't know of any optics retailers up near Leeds, but if other people can recommend good places to try a few pairs out where the staff know what they're talking about, I reckon that'd be at least as helpful as recommending the optics themselves.
edit: you could also try looking through the Zeiss FLs - the 8x32 are available online for just under £800, and other specs are not too far over. Opticron DBAs are less expensive, and arguably not quite in the same league... but would leave some cash in your wallet!
